Get ready for the next piece of genius Donald Glover as Elm (2023) will land next month. The singer and actor/writer/director has his next hit show lined up for his deal with Amazon Studios. after the conclusion of Atlanta, Glover hasn’t slowed his momentum and continues the trend of music-related, black-led stories. Originally titled the beehiveIt was developed by Glover Elm with co-founder Janine Nabers (A Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce). The actor, comedian and rapper will also star in and adapt the reboot series of the 2005 film. Mr. and Mrs. Smith with co-founder Frances Sloane (The first).

When and where will Swarm be released?

The horror series will premiere its first full season on March 17, 2023 exclusively on Prime Video. It will premiere at SXSW on March 10th, ahead of its worldwide streaming release. The series will release all seven episodes together on March 17. each episode will last about 60 minutes.

The first Elm The teaser was released on February 10, 2023 by Prime Video. opens with star Dre (Dominique Fishback), is glued to a TV screen showing a female pop star. The dialogue of a key question, “Who’s your favorite artist?”, is repeated in many of his infamous solo scenes, interspersed with the glitz and glamor of the singer he seems to love. The teaser begins with an increasing build-up to the buzzing sound of bees, before ending with the disturbing sight of a pool of blood being washed away by a dancing woman. Not much is revealed in the short sequence, but it certainly teases the surreal and unsettling horror elements that seem to permeate the series.

Dre further explores his relationship with his sister, Marissa (Chloe Bailey) who share the same musical interests since childhood. However, Marissa’s exit from the fandom isolates Dre, who continues to post on his Twitter stan account and commit to seeing his music idol, Ni’jah, on TV. As he approaches a breakdown, Dre encounters new people and potential fans who know him as “a killer bee. Part of the swarm.” From there, a whirlwind of violent, manic and seductive images show Dre on a road trip with clubbers, party wear and “crazy-ass fans” he considers his friends, hoping to meet his favorite artist.

What is the plot of Swarm?

As Glover points out, Elm revolves around a Beyoncé– figure guy and obsessed fan. Already, the series aims to present hard-hitting commentary on fan culture and the parasocial relationship between fans and celebrities. The fact that Beyoncé and other popular music artists have such dedicated hobbies that they err on the side of ownership makes for a fascinating story. Elm which studies that culture. The official synopsis reads:

Swarm, created by Janine Nabers and Donald Glover, is a TV series that follows eccentric superfan Dre (Dominique Fishback). Dre’s obsession with a famous musician causes him to commit lewd acts, but how far will his crush take him?

Amazon Studios released an additional log line and it reveals a little more information about the show’s setting.

From co-creators and executive producers Janine Nabers and Donald Glover, ElmSet in 2016-2018, it follows Dre (Dominique Fishback), an obsessed fan of the world’s biggest pop star, who embarks on an unexpected cross-country journey.

Who are the cast and crew of Swarm?

Dominique Fishback leads the series as the obsessed Dre fan. He is known for his role Judas and the Black Messiah. He also starred in films like Fishback The power of the project and The Hate U Give and appeared in TV shows like The Deuce and Modern love. He is joined by singer Chlöe Bailey (Grow-ish), Dre’s sister, Marissa, and Damson Idris (the snow), who plays Marissa’s boyfriend, Khalid. The official trailer revealed an extensive list of guest stars, including the comedian Rickey Thompson (quartet), musician Paris Jackson (Sex Appeal), Rory Culkin (Scream 4), Kiersey Clemons (dope), and Byron Bowers (Irma Vep). Their roles are currently undisclosed, but their characters likely intersect with Dre’s mission.

As mentioned, Donald Glover and Janine Nabers take the lead of the showrunners of the series. Glover has also already been cast as the pilot’s director. They are among the writers Stephen GloverDonald’s brother and frequent collaborator, Karen Joseph Adcock (bear), and Malia Obamathe daughter of the former president Barack Obama. Stephen Glover, Fam Udeorji (Guava Island), Steven Prinz (Paper Girls), and Michael Schaefer (Martian) join Donald Glover and Janine Nabers as executive producers.

Will there be a Swarm season 2?

That is while there is hope Elm it will be the successor of the next series Atlanta, there has been no official announcement yet about the possibility of a second season. The show is currently not labeled as a limited series and instead as a numbered season on Prime Video, which gives hope that it could be renewed. Until then, viewers can wait for the full season one premiere on March 17 to see if Dre’s story will be explored further.
