Grab your fanciest outfits and dancing shoes, because festival season is once again on the horizon. In anticipation of the titular High School event, Disney shared the official trailer for its original film Prom Pact. The YA rom-com premieres on Disney Channel on Thursday, March 30 at 8:00 PM ET, and will be available to stream on Disney+ the following day.

According to Disney, the film is “a heartfelt romantic comedy about the thrills and excitement of high school prom season.” Followed by Mandy Yang (Peyton Elizabeth Lee) and his best friend Ben (Milo Mannheim), high school seniors surrounded by strange proposals. But even the excitement of the promotion hasn’t shaken Mandy’s focus on her main goal: getting into Harvard. Unfortunately, Mandy is waitlisted for the Ivy League. So with Graham Lansing (newomcer Blake Draper) — his father is a famous senator and Harvard student. He eventually realizes that there is more to Graham, and more to life than Harvard.

The trailer wastes no time in revealing some of the over-the-top proposals witnessed by Mandy and Ben, both of whose responses lean more toward mockery than genuine desire to go prom. This also underlines Mandy’s current desire to get into Harvard. As the trailer sheds light on some of Mandy’s tactics, it also reveals her ambitious spirit both academically and eventually becoming a larger view of how she interacts with those around her, like Graham.

Also, the trailer doesn’t rely too heavily on its romantic aspects, focusing instead on Mandy’s overall change towards Graham. This is in line with the executive producer Julie Bowen stated before On Mandy and her beliefs about love: “[Mandy] she’s a feminist, and she doesn’t believe in the idea of falling in love. It goes back to Shakespeare: she’s a bit strident, very type A, and she doesn’t particularly want to believe in straight love, because she’s very liberal. But then it falls apart and there’s that undeniable chemistry.”
